SSVA provides group home opportunities for individuals living in Coastal Virginia and Southside Virginia. SSVA’s group homes are supported 24 hour a day by caring and energetic direct support professionals trained to support individuals with a wide variety of physical, mental health, and cognitive needs.
Each individual living in a group home has their own bedroom and shared use of bath, dining, living, kitchen, and garden. All residences are home to no more than 4 individuals and are centrally located for access to a wide variety of community activities and services.
SSVA’s residential program supports individuals in achieving their highest possible level of independence and quality of life through person centered planning and individualized supports.
Individuals living in group homes supported by SSVA in Coastal Virginia have access to all activities at Expressions Recreation Center after day support hours and fun and therapeutic activities such as shows at Norfolk Scope, participation in the Down Syndrome Association of Hampton Roads' Step Up for Down Syndrome, trips to Busch Gardens, fishing, and a weekly support group. In Central Virginia, Individuals have opportunities to join a weekly bowling league, go hiking, fishing and other outdoor activities, and participate in a wide variety of community events.
